Lee Schwartzberg, MD

Dr. Lee Schwartzberg is a senior partner at The West Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. He did a residency in Internal Medicine at Cornell University and fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where he was chief resident in Medicine. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He serves as the Medical Director of the Baptist Cancer Institute-Stem Cell Transplant Program and the Cancer Assessment Risk Evaluation and Surveillance (CARES) Genetics Program. Dr. Schwartzberg has authored over fifty research papers and serves as the Director of Research for The West Clinic.

 
Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Consider the clinical impact of emerging therapies on survival and quality of life for metastatic breast cancer.  
  • Define the optimal combinations, duration, and schedules of therapy directed against HER2.
  • Evaluate new data with regard to the outcomes achieved with novel anti-VEGF and anti-angiogenic treatment strategies in patients with metastatic breast cancer.
  • Understand the potential differences and benefits of newer targeted therapies used alone or in combination with regard to their impact on survival, safety, and quality of life.
  • Understand novel chemotherapeutic agents emerging in the management of metastatic breast cancer.
