Georgiana Ellis, MD

Dr. Georgiana K. Ellis is an Associate Professor in the Medical Oncology Division at the University of Washington School of Medicine and an Oncology Specialist at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr. Ellis received her medical degree from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington and completed her Internal Medicine Residency and was a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Oncology at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. Her clinical interests are in breast cancer-multidisciplinary care, dose intrinsity in cancer chemotherapy, and maximizing breast cancer cures.
Learning Objectives
In general, oncology/hematology professionals who avail themselves of the SABCS 2007 bone health conference summary should be able to:
- Evaluate breast cancer bone metastases and bone loss clinical trial data presented at SABCS based on study design, the reported results, and authors’ conclusions.
- Consider the reviewed data as it relates to previous, concurrent and future treatment of breast cancer bone issues with bisphosphonates.
- Efficacy and safety of intravenous bisphosphonates in patients with bone metastases caused by metastatic breast cancer.
- Evaluate the clinical usefulness of bisphosphonates in oncology: treatment of bone metastases, antitumoral activity and effect on bone resorption markers.
- Effect of bisphosphonates on bone loss in women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
