Monitored Adjuvant Lysordren® May Improve Outcomes of Patients with Adrenocortical Carcinoma (3/1/2010)
Researchers from Sweden have concluded that adjuvant Lysordren® (mitotane, O, P’-DDD) should be the standard of care for patients with high-risk adrenocortical carcinoma. The details of this study were published in the February 2010 issue of Endocrine Related Cancer.

Children with Ewing’s Sarcoma or Astrocytoma Most Likely to Experience Late Recurrence (2/22/2010)
Researchers affiliated with the Childhood Cancer Study have reported that late recurrence of childhood cancers is a risk for some patients and is more frequent in survivors of Ewing’s sarcoma or astrocytoma. The details of this study appeared in the December 16, 2009 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

No Link Between Cell Phones and Cancer in Scandinavian Study (12/9/2009)
Researchers from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden have reported that brain tumor rates have not increased since use of cell phones became widespread in the 1990s. These results were published early online on December 3, 2009 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Regimen of Radiotherapy, Temodar®, Avastin®, and Camptosar® Effective for Glioblastoma (11/17/2009)
Researchers from Duke University have reported that a regimen of radiotherapy (RT), Temodar® (temozolomide), and Avastin® (bevacizumab) followed by Camptosar® (irinotecan), Temodar, and Avastin after RT was well tolerated and effective for treating patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma. The details of this Phase II study were presented at the 2009 meeting of the American Society of Radiation Therapy and Oncology (ASTRO) in the first week of November.

Oncophage® Cancer Vaccine Shows Promise in Recurrent Glioblastoma (11/9/2009)
Researchers from the Brain Tumor Research Center at the University of California, San Francisco, have reported that Oncophage® (vitespen), a cancer vaccine, may improve survival of patients with recurrent or progressive high-grade glioblastoma. The details of this Phase II clinical trial were presented at the 2009 Joint Meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS)/CNS section on tumors on October 24.
